JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS – The third attempted robbery for the evening proved to be a bad idea for a young man on Monday, December 7th, as his intended victim fatally shot him in self-defense. Jacksonville Police Department officers responded to a reported aggravated armed robbery on South Bailey Drive around 10:40 p.m.
Upon arrival, police located a deceased male that matched the description of a suspect in an earlier robbery around 8:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Stop and Shop on South First Street. The same suspect attempted to rob another victim outside of her home on the same evening.
On the third try of the night, the suspect allegedly shot at his intended victims, one of which returned fire and fatally wounded him. His identity is unknown at this time, but police say he appears to be between 19-24 years of age.
This series of events serves to prove that once a criminal is determined to commit crimes against citizens, they often will not stop with one or two offenses. More often than not, their confidence and boldness is bolstered with every crime that they get away with. What they often fail to realize is that the more situations that they create, the higher the probability that they are going to pick the wrong victim…one who is armed and will meet a lethal threat with lethal force.
As concealed carriers, we must always keep in mind that many of the bad guys have nothing to lose, and therefore, won’t stop their criminal activities until someone stops them.
