I was sitting here going through boxes of things to review, and I came across a laser from ArmaLaser for my Glock 43. I don’t know how it got put in the box, but I owe those guys a review.
Spoiler Alert: Review on ArmaLaser Coming Soon!
Anyway, it got me thinking about a conversation that I had with a friend a few months back. We were talking about handguns for home defense, and whether or not they should have a laser or flashlight attached to them. We came up with pros and cons for each, but here are the biggest of the bunch:
PRO:
- Being able to see your target clearly (flashlight)
- Being able to get rounds on your target more effectively under stress (laser)
- Temporarily blinding your target (flashlight, but possibly laser as well)
CON:
- Giving away your location (both)
I’m sure that there are more for each list, but that should do it for now. That’s not what this article is about.
We want to know your thoughts on these implementations for a home defense firearm, whether it be a handgun or long gun.
