News Crew Robbed At Gunpoint In Chicago While Covering Story On Robberies In Chicago

Chicago’s escalating armed robbery issue reached a new peak when a TV news crew, covering a robbery story in West Town, was itself robbed. Within a span from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, over 30 individuals experienced either a robbery or carjacking. Yet, no arrests have been made by the Chicago police related to these incidents.

While setting up for a live broadcast in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee before 5 a.m., a reporter and photojournalist were ambushed. A police representative, without disclosing the victims’ profession, confirmed that early in the morning, an SUV and a sedan approached the duo. Three masked men, brandishing firearms, emerged and robbed the victims of their personal items. They also took a camera from the crew’s vehicle. Sources identified the news crew as employees of Univision. This marks the second robbery involving a Chicago TV news team in recent weeks.

In a separate incident on the same block, a woman’s white Ford Escape was hijacked. Three men, alighting from a sedan on Sunday night, threatened her with a firearm before commandeering her vehicle.
