72-Year-Old Man Thwarts Home Invasion With Gun

BEDFORD COUNTY, PA — A suspect was shot and killed by a homeowner during a home invasion attempt, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The incident occurred Saturday, December 10th at around 3 a.m., on Shoups Branch Road in Liberty Township, accordig to WTAJ. State Police received a 911 call by the homeowner, an unnamed 72-year-old male, of an attempted assault and home invasion.

At one point, the call was disconnected. Upon re-connection of the call, police learned of a shooting at the location.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Dakota Hall of Huntington.

Hall had suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was taken to UPMC Bedford for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the incident. The case remained under investigation at the time of the report by State Police, the Bedford County Coroner’s Office and Bedford County District Attorney’s Office.
