Carjacking Attempt Thwarted By Concealed Carrier In Chicago

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A carjacker is in the hospital after he was shot by a concealed carry license holder early Monday morning. The incident occurred at around 1:25 am in the 5500 block of West Crystal Street in North Austin on the West Side.

The armed citizen was sitting in his car on West Crystal Street when the suspect fired on the victim, according to Chicago Police. The CCL holder was able to return fire and struck the suspect in the chest.

The suspect was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and was last reported in critical condition. The CCL holder suffered no injuries in the exchange of gunfire.
