Why We Carry: Man On Parole Crashes Stolen Truck Into Church, Breaks Into Home And Stabs Two Occupants

WICHITA, KANSAS – A man stabbed two people, one fatally, after crashing a stolen pickup truck into a church Saturday.  According to Police Chief Gordon Ramsay, the suspect of the crimes was out on parole for six other offenses.

The 35-year-old unidentified suspect stole the truck from a home where the owner was outside doing yard work and had left the keys in the ignition. He then crashed it into the Iglesia De Cristo church. Following the crash, he broke into a nearby home and stabbed two of the occupants. One victim died at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, who was arrested a few blocks away from the stabbing scene, was currently out of jail on parole for a half-dozen other crimes. The Chief, speaking on the matter, said, “This continues the pattern that we see of parolees committing crime in the city. One of the benchmarks that we need to remember is in these critical cases, that we are apprehending and arresting these suspects. But yet it seems to be a never-ending source of suspects coming out of prison and that is a significant concern of mine.
