Woman Shot In Head While Waiting At Traffic Light After Two Other Cars Shoot At Each Other

BRADENTON, FLORIDA — A situation unfolded not too far from where we’re located, involving two cars speeding down the highway and an innocent bystander sitting inside her car, waiting for the light to turn green.

Two unidentified vehicles were in a rolling gun battle while driving down the main highway, and numerous other vehicles were struck by gun fire, including a woman who was shot in the head.

According to deputies, suspects from two cars were driving southbound in the area shooting at each other. A 51-year-old woman, who was a bystander and had no ties to the shooting suspects, was parked at the intersection of 26th Avenue East and U.S. 41 when she got shot in the head during the crossfire.

“By the grace of God, the bullet did not enter into her skull, otherwise this would have ended very tragically,” said Randy Warren with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

There is nothing that can be done in a situation like this, from an armed citizen sitting at a traffic light position, because something like this is going to go by just as quickly as it came up. With that, being aware of as much of our surroundings as possible is an important thing to accomplish every day.

While it’s a somewhat rare case, this woman still had to endure this unnecessary pain and trauma, all because a couple of thugs took their childish fight to the public streets.

The incident is believed to have started at another location close by where a shooting took place, shortly before the rolling gun battle.

“These kinds of people really don’t care about the general public that’s involved,” said Bill Cross, who works at Manasota Flooring Inc. “All they care about is themselves and what their actions are.”

Police do not have descriptions of the vehicles and no leads at this time. However, hopefully they’re looking through traffic cam footage, because there are cameras galore in the area.
