Chicago Store Clerk Fires At Armed Robber

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago store clerk seriously evened the odds with an armed robber when they pulled out their own firearm and sent them packing.

The attempted robbery, which the thug tried to pull off in broad daylight, ended up an embarrassing failure.

As the Chicago Sun Times reports:

About 11:10 a.m., a man entered a convenience store in the 700 block of South Western, displayed what appeared to be a weapon and demanded property, according to Chicago Police. The clerk fired one shot at the suspect, and the man ran away, police said. The clerk was not certain whether or not the man was struck by the bullet.

The suspect is described as a black man between 30 and 35 years old and wearing a purple hoodie, red shoes and white sneakers, police said. No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.

“What appeared to be a weapon” is interesting terminology, but one would hope that the fact that the bad guy demanded money would prove enough for self-defense for the poor clerk.

Hopefully, this thug will be rounded up and justice will be served.

It’s easy to think of Chicago as a gun-free city — like, the whole thing. But it’s clearly not, although there are those that wish it was.

One of these days, people who make decisions of consequence when it comes to the Second Amendment will realize that guns in the hands of able and responsible men and women prevent, stop, and deter crime, not the other way around.

For now, though, we can take heart in the small victories, like a store clerk who gets to go home one more day.
