Homeowner Shoots And Kills Intruder — Neighbors Baffled How It Could Happen…

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A homeowner shot and killed an intruder in a late night burglary attempt that shook up an upper-middle class neighborhood.

“We never see this happen in the neighborhood, so it was definitely a surprise and shock when that happened,” neighbor Jessica Speaks said.

WLKY covered the story and reported that the intruder had been shot and died at the scene. The case was investigated by the Louisville Police Department and no charges were brought against the homeowner.

Lt. Todd Kessinger of the Louisville Police Department commented on the case and advised residents that anytime they are in fear of their own lives or the lives of their family, they are free to use self-defense.

“That is what we try to determine in an investigation,” Kessinger told WLKY News.

For neighbors who thought that a home invasion couldn’t happen in their neighborhood, this case proved to be a wake-up call for them.

“More than being shaken up, it’s reminding me of the fragility of life and just how quickly that can happen. Life can be taken away no matter where you are or who you are,” Speaks said.

This is the reason why it doesn’t matter where you live or how affluent you may be, violent home invasions and violence in general can be right around the corner. It’s why we warn even those who don’t like firearms to at least be trained and prepared to use them. Otherwise, it turns into a much bloodier contest with higher stakes.

Your family depends upon you to defend them in the middle of the night when bad guys break in. That’s why we keep a gun close by and ready to react. When seconds matter, even a handgun may buy you precious minutes until police arrive.

Be safe and carry every single day — especially in the home.
