Florida Concealed Carry Permits Reach 1.5 Million, Adding 20,000 Each Month

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Some numbers are in from the sunshine state and they tell us one thing: People want to be armed.

Permits for Florida concealed carry permits are coming in at a rate of around 20,000 every single month. They continue to see more and more applications and as a response, started allowing tax collectors to accept and process them. This move doubled the number of places that a person can apply across the state.

The total number of people with a Florida concealed carry permit: 1.5 Million

At a Tallahassee gun range, every seat in every class offered is full.

“It’s very steady and constant,” Talon Range owner J.D. Johnson said. “We’re running at full capacity and probably if we offered more classes, we could probably fill more classes. We just don’t have the time to do it.”

“So why do you think people want that training?” asked reporter Mike Vasilinda.

“I think they want the training to feel safer in their daily lives. I mean, we have a lot of people that see the news, that hear of all the bad things going on in the world and I think they are looking for some understanding and feel the need to protect themselves,” Johnson said.

In August, Florida processed more background checks than it had in a decade for any other August.

The whole package is here, really. This tells us that; not only do people want to be armed, they want to take the time to properly train as well. It’s a winning combination.

Criminals beware.
