HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA — A 21-year-old man, Jaymon Brown, was shot and killed Wednesday morning, and no suspects have been identified.

Because of this and other crime in the area, a local gun shop is offering people who live and work in Homestead a discount on firearms so that they can save some money while protecting themselves.

Erik Lowry, who owns Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms, posted an ad on social media, offering a 5 percent discount one day after the fatal shooting.

Lowry told Channel 11 News that he is not having the sale to capitalize on the crime.

“This is where I live. This is where my kids live. OK? I want people to be safe. I want my neighbors to be safe. I want my community to be safe, and the way to do that is to protect yourself,” he said.

Lowry said he offered the same discount following a violent home invasion in Munhall last year.

Lowry posted the discount on the company Facebook page, and people quickly welcomed the idea with open arms.

I really hate when shootings like this are close to home. Anyone who can show me an ID today that lives in the Homestead area gets 5% off any firearm purchase in the entire store. Please stay safe everyone. Also applies if you work in Homestead.
