Florida Comes Closer To Concealed Carry On Campus

On Monday, the Florida Senate Higher Education Committee approved a bill which would allow anyone with a concealed carry permit to carry on the campus of any public university in Florida. Campus carry is currently illegal in Florida.

The Committee approved the bill in a straight party-line vote; Republicans – FOR, Democrats – AGAINST. In Florida, one must be at least 21 years old to obtain a concealed carry permit.

Supporters of the bill say that campuses are “gun-free zones” where criminals will meet no armed resistance. Opponents say that allowing guns on campus will lead to more violence.

What do YOU think? Are the campuses in your state safe? Should licensed concealed carry be allowed on campus? Please comment and let us know. Stay safe.
