Man Dies After 14-Year-Old Throws Brick At His Head During Argument

PEORIA, ILLINOIS — A tragic and unnecessary incident resulted in the death of a South Peoria man. The Peoria County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 50-year-old Tony Collier passed away after being struck by a brick thrown at him by a teenager.

According to information shared on Facebook, Collier was pronounced dead at OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center, where he had been taken after sustaining blunt-force trauma injuries. It was noted that Collier had chosen to donate his organs.

The incident occurred on May 10th near the intersection of Garden and Ligonier. After engaging in a verbal argument, the 14-year-old teenager threw a brick at Collier, rendering him unconscious. Peoria police promptly responded to the scene and transported Collier to St. Francis Medical Center.

Law enforcement later located and apprehended the 14-year-old suspect, who was charged with aggravated battery. The teenager was subsequently transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Peoria Police Department is treating this incident as a homicide and is currently conducting an investigation.
