BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN — A man from Fulton, aged 40, was killed in a shooting that occurred in an apartment earlier this month.
The police believe that the shooting was an act of self-defense, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.
According to Battle Creek police, the man had broken into an apartment at Georgetown Estates. The police received a distress call at around 9:41 p.m. and found the alleged intruder, Donald Richard Guthrie, had been shot.
Guthrie was taken to the hospital, but he died later.
The police stated that “It appears that Guthrie had forced his way into the victim’s Georgetown Estates apartment, at which time the victim shot Guthrie. At this time, it appears that the victim acted in self-defense.”
The case will be reviewed by the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office, if it has not been fully already.
