CROWLEY, LOUISIANNA – A domestic abuse victim shot her alleged abuser after enduring months of abuse by him. Deputies were called to a reported domestic situation and shooting at a home in the 2400 block of South Avenue F, south of Crowley
Responding officers found a man identified as Brandon Hebert suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators determined that there had been what they described as a “long pattern of domestic abuse.”
They based their findings on physical evidence and statements from witnesses. Herbert was identified as the aggressor in the on-going abuse, which had been occurring for approximately six months. The shooting was thought to have been in self-defense, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
After being released from the hospital, Herbert, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic abuse, one count of sexual battery, one count of aggravated domestic abuse, one count of second-degree domestic abuse battery, 16 counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
