Chicago Woman Shoots And Kills Boyfriend In Self-defense, Police Say

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — After initially arresting the woman for murder, investigators would later drop those charges and let her go free.

“We conducted a thorough review of the incident after it was brought to us by law enforcement and concluded that the evidence and facts were insufficient to support the filing of criminal charges,” said Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the state’s attorney’s office, in a statement.

The man was shot in the leg and chest, and it is said that a verbal argument started the ordeal inside their apartment. The woman told police that things got physical, and that her boyfriend pushed her into a wall and threatened to kill her.

Others were at the apartment and witnessed the incident. Based on their interviews and the interview with the woman, no charges were brought against her.

Police say the woman has a valid FOID card, as well as a concealed carry permit for the state of Illinois.
