Robbery Duo Cut to Solo When Armed Guard Takes a Stand

LANCASTER, CA — A California security guard was faced with a life-and-death encounter with two armed robbers when they tried to make a quick buck at a local internet cafe, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Fortunately, he (or she) was up for the challenge, and one of those robbers wouldn’t survive the ordeal.

According to CBS Los Angeles:

A security guard shot and killed a male suspect during a robbery attempt at an internet cafe in Lancaster overnight Sunday. The robbery and shooting occurred at 12:45 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of West Lumber Street.

A security guard told Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies that two suspects entered the store and tried to rob it. That is when the security guard fired his gun, hitting one of the two suspects. The second suspect fled. The man was rushed to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

Now, it’s awful easy to be a responsibly-armed citizen/employee when your job title is “security guard.” However, we’ve got to give credit where credit is due: it’s a separate matter entirely to draw and neutralize two people all by your lonesome.

It’s a shame that one of the robbers died, but at the same time — he did get exactly what was coming for him, shame that it may be. With a little luck, the second attacker will receive justice as well.

Instances like these are not just crime-stoppers; they can be crime-preventers as well. After all that’s happened, do you think that criminals will be inclined to threaten the lives of customers and workers here if they hear about this incident?

Not likely. Now here’s the takeaway, people.

Armed security guards aren’t everywhere.

Point of fact, they aren’t even most places. In their stead, we as responsibly-armed concealed carriers need to fill that role, if and when needed — even in California, if it can be managed.
