Escaped Suspect Hides In Trash Can, Homeowner Finds Him And Holds Him At Gunpoint

HARRISBURG, ARKANSAS — A man who had escaped custody from police was on the run, and he made the decision to hide in someone’s garbage can. He got part of it right, because he’s trash, but he got one pig part wrong; the owner of the garbage can was armed and ready and willing to hold him at gunpoint for police.

Local media reports;

Homeowner Dale Smith, got up Wednesday morning to see his wife off to work and noticed his trash can had been moved. Smith, a former Marine said he immediately knew something was wrong.

“I put my hand on it and raised it and I see the guy in there,” said Smith.

According to police, 31-year-old Jonathan Ware, a suspect who escaped police custody and was facing a felony charge of second-degree battery was inside of Smith’s trash can.

Smith called 911 and told them what was happening, and had some words for the criminal as well. “I told him to stay in the can. Don’t get out,” said Smith.

Ware is said to have a lengthy criminal past, which includes escape.

Let’s hope this is the last time that he’s able to evade police but if it’s not, let’s hope that he chooses the wrong area again to hunker down until he can make his getaway.
