UNION GROVE, TX — When a man was forced to take action on behalf of the denizens of his makeshift deer sanctuary, he did so with a vengeance.
Joe Clowers of Union Grove, Texas went to war with a massive boar who had been preying on his fawns for five years, according to the Houston Chronicle.
“My property lays between some populated areas and I try to maintain an environment like a sanctuary or nursery for the deer to raise fawns,” he told the Houston Chronicle.
He did not take to having those he was trying to help hurt.
So he took the monster down.

“He was the big daddy,” Clowers reportedly said. “I called him the bush beast.”
The bush beast weighed a staggering 416 pounds.
Although it would be totally awesome for the massive critter to have been taken down with some sort of souped-up every day carry piece (or a .22 LR, which seems to be a theme around here), it was taken down by the next-best thing:
An AR-15.
So much for the platform not being serviceable for hunting, right guys?
Unfortunately for Clowers, the man will have to settle for a trophy, rather than enjoy the beast’s meat.
The carcass sat out too long.
It’s a shame — that’d feed a whole mess of folks!
