HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS — In the early hours on Tuesday morning in north Harris County, a man sleeping in his truck at an apartment complex fatally shot an alleged intruder. The incident, reported by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, occurred around 3:12 a.m. in the 300 block of Parramatta Lane near Imperial Valley Drive.

The shooter, asleep in the back seat of his four-door pickup, was disturbed by an intruder who entered his vehicle. According to Sgt. Ben Beall of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the intruder, armed with a pistol and a screwdriver, was believed to be involved in burglarizing several vehicles in the area. Unaware that the truck was occupied due to its heavily tinted windows, the intruder was confronted by the vehicle’s owner, who was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

The intruder, a man in his 20s, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found a Glock in his pocket and suspect he used the screwdriver to break into other cars before entering the pickup truck.

Authorities reported that the man who fired the shots is cooperating with the investigation. The case is expected to be presented to a grand jury.
