ATLANTA, GEORGIA — A minor brought a firearm to a swimming pool in Atlanta, Georgia, which was subsequently seized.
The 12-year-old carried the weapon to the Pittman Park swimming facility in a backpack, at which point an on-duty security officer spotted the image of the firearm on the security screen.
The boy peacefully surrendered the firearm to the police, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Authorities stated that they had a conversation with the minor, but he was not arrested. Instead, he was permitted to join the swimming activities.
In light of the incident, Atlanta has decided to assign sworn officers from the city police and Fulton County to the city’s primary pools for the first time.
