CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A neighbor heard a loud argument happening next door and went over to investigate, finding a confrontation between a mother and her 19-year-old son, of which the son was armed with a knife. Multiple calls came into 911 about the incident, including from this same neighbor.
Police say the neighbor left but was followed by the 19-year-old, still armed with the knife, who would not stop advancing on him. As they got to a nearby alley, the neighbor drew his concealed firearm and fired a shot at the teen, striking him in the leg.
When police arrived, they encountered the teen still holding the knife and had to use a taser in order to get him into custody. He was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound and for evaluation.
