THREE POINTS, ARIZONA — A woman shot and killed a convicted sex offender who was attempting to break into her home, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred on August 11, and the deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jayson Magrum.
The woman, whose name has not been released, reported that she had told Magrum to leave but he did not comply. She then grabbed a firearm and fired a warning shot, but he persisted and tried to disarm her. Magrum was shot and later died from his injuries. The woman was not harmed and is actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The woman faces no charges in relation to the shooting.
Jayson Magrum was a registered sex offender, listed on the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s OffenderWatch website. His criminal record includes a conviction in Utah for attempted forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. Additionally, the Arizona Department of Corrections records show that Magrum was convicted of aggravated domestic violence in Pima County in 2014, for which he served a six-month prison sentence.
