Suspect And Homeowner Involved In Gunfight During Attempted Burglary In Pennsylvania

COATESVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA — Police responded to a shootout between an apartment resident and a burglary suspect who had just burglarized the man’s apartment. The incident occurred March 11th in Coatesville, PA at a location on East Lincoln Highway.

Police stated that the resident returned home to find the suspect standing in the doorway. The suspect had just burglarized the apartment, taking two firearms and a video game console. The suspect was armed with an AR-15 taken in the burglary.

A struggle occurred between the two and then the suspect fired approximately 7 rounds from the victim’s rifle. The victim was able to return fire with a lawfully possessed firearm. Neither the victim, nor the suspect was injured in the encounter.
