CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — On December 5th, a 68-year-old man was with his 9-year-old son when he says an armed man came up to him and attempted to rob him at gunpoint. Little did the robber know that this father was carrying a concealed firearm under Illinois’ relatively new concealed carry laws.
Shortly after the suspect displayed his firearm, the man sprung into action and drew his firearm in self-defense. He fired multiple shots at the suspect, who was apprehended by police a short time later.
A witness said he heard people arguing outside, heard four or five gunshots and saw a man running through back yards heading south on Turner Avenue, according to police.
The suspect, only identified as a 26-year-old man from Markham, has not yet been charged with any crime. The investigation is ongoing.
