15-Year-Old Dead After Breaking Into Home Of Armed Citizen

BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI — A teenager is dead after police say he broke into a home around 1:00 a.m. and was confronted by an armed resident. That resident fired, and the teen did not make it.

According to the Biloxi Police Department, they received a 911 call at 1:10 a.m. from a Biloxi resident who shot an intruder at their home located on Old Bay Road. When police arrived, they found the alleged trespasser in the backyard of the house with a gunshot wound, later identified as a 15-year-old.

The investigation is initial thus far. But at the moment, investigators say the deceased did break into the Biloxi residence and the homeowner shot the intruder during a confrontation. Family members of the homeowner immediately called 911 after the incident, authorities say.

It’s a sad outcome to have anyone lose their life, but fault cannot be placed on the armed resident in the slightest. Having an unknown person break into your home is a terrifying ordeal, especially when it happens in the middle of the night.

Your home is your castle. Your safe space. When that is violated, things are never the same for many people who are forced to go through such an event.

The armed resident stood their ground, defended the lives of everyone who lived there, and that’s likely a decision they stand behind.

Police are still investigating, but so far no charges have been filed.
