Concealed Carrier’s Quick Thinking Saves Woman And Children From Knife-Wielding Man

Published

LITTLEFIELD, TEXAS — A man, who was also a neighbor, arrived at home to a horrific sight. A woman was being attacked by a man with a knife while her children waited helplessly inside the car. The attacker, 25-year-old Ruben Garcia Lopez, was attempting to carjack the woman and her boyfriend.

A police statement said, “A male subject was armed with a knife [and] was assaulting a female and trying to take her car.” Police said Lopez also assaulted the woman’s boyfriend. Her kids were in the car.

Police quoted Lopez as saying, “This was his (expletive) car”.

The neighbor, who has a concealed carry permit, sprung into action and ran over to help. He pointed his firearm at Lopez and stopped the attack immediately. Lopez went across the street, but he wasn’t free for long. When police arrived, he dropped the knife on the ground and began attacking the officers.

Lopez was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault, terroristic threat and resisting arrest.

Who knows what would have happened if the armed neighbor didn’t make his quick move, but we do know this much; When most bad guys are faced with armed resistance, they are usually quick to see that they’ve lost this fight.
