Mom Forced To Shoot Her Own Son After Fearing For Her Life

Published

ELIZABETH, COLORADO — A mom came to a tough decision after he son allegedly broke into her home, a residence that he was not living at, and began to attack her. She fired her gun at him, claiming self-defense.

What a bad position to be placed in.

“Mamich, who does not reside at the location, [allegedly] broke into the house and assaulted his mother, who then shot him when she feared for her life,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said. Mamich’s mother called police and reported she had shot her son.

The son was taken to the hospital for treatment and then released to police custody. He is being held on numerous charges including first-degree burglary, criminal mischief and assault.

The decision for a mother to have to make, to shoot her own son, is something that I cannot fathom. There isn’t a back story available to see the history between the two or how her son acted in his day-to-day life, but it seems that at least some problems were plaguing the son and/or mother.

It’s a sad story to report, but we hope that the son gets any help that he needs.

No charges have been filed against the mother.
