[VIDEO] What Happens If You Hold The Slide Of A Semi-Auto When It’s Fired? Let’s Find Out.

Published

In a demonstration a few years ago done by our friend John from Active Self Protection, he answers a question that many have had: If I hold the slide of a semi-auto when it’s fired, will I be severely injured?

It’s a legitimate question, and here’s why. Let’s say you’re up against an attacker with a gun, and your best possible option at the time is to try and disable that gun. Chances are, instinct will place your hand(s) near or on the firearm in an effort to remove the threat. But what if you grab onto the slide itself?

As John points out, this isn’t Hollywood. It’s real life. And with real life, we have a whole new set of outcomes.

Watch the video above to see exactly what happens when John holds the slide of a Glock 19 and pulls the trigger.

Of course, he was doing a demonstration in a safe environment, and we would never recommend anyone attempting this at anytime. That’s what this video is for… so you don’t have to test it out for yourself.

What did you think would happen? Are you surprised at the outcome? Tell us in the comments below.
