[REVIEW] Alien Gear Cloak Dock Holster Mount For Nearly Any Surface

We’re mobile, so why shouldn’t we have a modular system for our firearms that we carry each day? Helping with a solution is Alien Gear with their Cloak Dock Holster Mount, allowing you to grab-and-go on the fly.

Introduced not too long ago, Alien Gear’s Cloak Mod OWB paddle holster fits this new mount perfectly… and the mount can be secured just about anywhere.

The mount can be secured to many surfaces including wood, metal, plastic and more. All of the necessary hardware is included in the package, including the drill bit needed to create the pilot holes.

The mount itself consists of two brackets and one more piece connecting the two, which then allows for the placement of your firearm while inside the holster. The grooves at the bottom are where the Cloak Mod OWB paddle would sit, allowing for three different positions.

For the purposes of this review, I decided to mount this inside my Jeep, on the panel in front of my legs just below the steering wheel. This allows for an easy reach should I ever need to draw while in my vehicle. In the video at the top of this article, I give a quick demonstration of how everything works.

The plastic that I mounted this to is pretty thin, and I was worried that it wouldn’t hold up once everything was in place. They provided screws for mounting in plastic, and they are doing a fantastic job at keeping everything secure.

If you look at the image below, you can see the amount of adjustment that Alien Gear provides for this mount. There are three positions in which you can set everything up, bringing the firearm and holster closer or further from the base. You can also flip the connecting piece around, which allows for even more adjustment.

From their website:

To hook your Cloak Mod onto the docking system, simply slide the paddle attachment onto the center bar of the Cloak Dock. This simple design allows you to attach and detach your Cloak Mod in a single fluid motion. It also provides you with the ability to draw your holstered handgun when attached to the Cloak Dock.

To accommodate your personal needs, the Cloak Dock is also fully customizable. By adjusting the center bar, you can attach your paddle holster to the Cloak Dock in two ways: shell side out or paddle side out. The docking system is also designed with depth adjustment, allowing you to position your handgun exactly where you want it. This accessory is also capable of accommodating both forward and reverse cant.

When drawing the firearm, the holster stays where it should, just waiting for that reholstering. Because I don’t use the Cloak Mod OWB holster for carry, I keep it in the mount at all times and simply remove my firearm from my holster and place it into the docking mount and holster when I get in my vehicle. Then when it’s time to leave, I put my firearm back in my IWB holster and go.

At a price point of $14.88, it’s a great investment for people on the go, and for people who simply want a more convenient place to keep their firearm so that it’s available to them at all times.
