Housekeeping Day 2: Redirecting Ads, Have They Stopped?

Published

The image above shows a few examples of what readers have been seeing when trying to get to our website via Facebook.

We’ve been running around trying to smoke out the shady advertisers responsible for those annoying and pesky ads that have been redirecting readers to download apps and other junk. While they don’t pose any risk to your devices, they’re incredibly annoying.

With that said, we’ve turned off a few ad partners to try and narrow it down. Just like yesterday, we ask that you send us ([email protected]) a screenshot if you are still encountering the annoyance. Any and all information you can give will be helpful.

Helpful information includes:

  • Screenshots
  • What browser your phone is using (many seem to be using the built-in Facebook browser)
  • Phone make and model
  • Where you’re redirected to. Eg, app download, another website, etc.

Bear with us as we snuff this out, and thanks to everyone who has submitted screenshots. They’ve proven helpful!
