Home Alone — Mom Defends Home With .44 Magnum: What Gets Missed In The Headlines?

Published

WAYNESBORO, GEORGIA — On the surface, this appears just like any other win for the concealed carry community.  An armed mom, home alone, defends herself from an armed invader.  This 44-year-old uses a .44 caliber revolver to defend her home when she sees someone trying to come in through the storm door.  Is it a good thing?  You bet it is.

A lot gets missed in the headlines.  When you see a story of a woman home alone defending herself, it’s easily dismissed in the mull of bad news stories.  There’s so much that’s going wrong with the world.  But today, responsible carry wins.

The True Citizen covered the original article.  It’s a blip on the radar.  But when we talk about gun ownership in America, this is what we’re talking about.  We deserve the right to defend ourselves from aggressors.  Even if the guy coming in through the screen door just wanted the TV or was looking for some spare change to fund his habit, there’s living people inside that home that deserve the right to defend themselves.

We don’t live in Denmark — or whatever the flavor of the day is for idealized societies.  We live in reality.  And that means not all homo sapiens who walk on two feet are friendly.  When you hear a politician scream, “we don’t need no guns — we have police”, hear the true cry of someone who has never had to defend his or her home from a transgressor.

As responsible concealed carriers, we always hope to have mercy upon all those whom trespass against us — as we would hope others would have mercy upon us should we trespass.  That said, a conclusion with no injuries or fatalities and simply a lesson learned — that’s as big a win as you get.

And props to the mom who packed a .44 revolver.  Because sometimes, in the concealed carry world, the larger calibers are just what does it in the dead of night.  Peace be amongst us all.
