Want To Carry Your Gun Into Harbor Freight? They’d Like You To Keep It In Your Car

Harbor Freight Tools is a “gun free zone.” Americans cannot legally exercise their natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms within their stores. Legally (deepening on your state). There is nothing to stop American carrying their guns into the store illegally – except the law. Which honest Americans observe and criminals have a habit of ignoring. In Harbor Freight Tools stores. Take this story [via wacotrib, com], for example . . .

A man was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on charges connected to a July 12 robbery of Harbor Freight in the 3900 block of Bosque Boulevard.

Chase Colten Goeke, 24, was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of evading arrest.

The charges stem from an incident in which three men robbed the store at gunpoint after assaulting several employees about 10 p.m. that Saturday, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The men allegedly accosted a Harbor Freight employee as he was taking out the trash before pushing him into the store and pistol-whipping him.

One of the men assaulted another woman who worked in the store by choking her and pushing her to the floor, Swanton said.

The three men — who were armed with handguns and wearing black clothing, ski masks and gloves — took an undisclosed amount of checks and cash, he said.

I wonder if the Harbor Freight employees and customers felt safe before the violent robbery. I imagine they didn’t feel safe during the attack. And definitely not after.

Not that I’m implying that a gun would – or should – make someone feel safe. It should help them besafe. Which it can’t if it’s in your car and you’re in a store. Of course, there are more than a few gun owners who wouldn’t put themselves in that scenario. And for good reason. [h/t SS]

ANY business that does not want me to exercise my right to carry will automatically see me exercise my right to do business with their competitor.

    • clos

      +1

  • fbc28277

I surprised the Waco PD didn’t murder everyone involved. I guess they didn’t ride motorcycles.

  • mslady269

Well, I was in there last week, gun inside my waist. It’s not a place I love going anyway; cheap tools, lol

  • Mazzif Fizzam

“Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton” Same guy whos police force just gunned down a mess of bike enthusiasts and is trying to play cover up? Id just carry in the tool store. The police there are not going to protect you.

  • Bill Edwards

Guess we’ll have to find some place else to buy really shitty tools

  • evilvw

There’s always Northern Tool. They generally have better stuff, anyway.

    • Brew

      unfortunately, not by much anymore

    • Northern Tool also owns Sportsmans Guide a huge seller of ammo and gun accessories

  • Tripp Polk

Well for everyone’s information. It’s called concealed carry for a reason.

    • parkerglp

I open-carry in the Harbor Freight in Greeley, CO every time I go in and no one has ever said a word!

      • battle

I open carry in Kansas without problems also. I wont go there if they dont allow my gun.

  • evilvw

Harbor Freight’s tools have killed more people than my guns.

  • Tripp Polk

I’ll carry in there with a permit anyway. They won’t know the difference but if by chance I stop an armed robber I’m sure they would appreciate it.

    • Arthur Morse

No, they probably won’t appreciate it and will likely sue you.

      • RogerB

Sue me, I have an attorney on retainer for criminal and civil.

  • Tony Currie

I bet that before long a place of business is going to deny a legal concealed carrier from entering their store with their gun. The person is going to comply with the business request and that person is going to be assaulted and injured during a robbery while in the store. When it happens the business is going to go through a law suit for not providing adequate protection while denying the person the right to protect themselves.

    • wildman

      point well made

  • Arthur Morse

Sorry HF you just lost my business forever.

  • wildman

if you don’t accept our constitutional rights to protect ourselves then I can assure you that your business will avoided by a bunch of us-

  • Beaugrand_RTMC

I can carry guns in my own house. I can also exclude other people from carrying their guns into my house; or my business. Is this going to degenerate to a situation where I have to allow people I don’t know to carry guns into my house, because they have “rights?” How is that different from being forced to allow guns into my business?
Further- Who the HELL are you to criticize what I allow in my house?
If you’re “offended” that I don’t let strangers with guns in my house-
STAY THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE.

    • Strawberry Garcia

I didn’t hear Anyone complain that the business didn’t have a right to do what they did they just stated they will no longer do business there!

      • Beaugrand_RTMC

        Good riddance.

        • Strawberry Garcia

My thought exactly we won’t need that business around!

    • Stan S

You must have one hell of a business, what do you sell ? DOPE ? Sounds like i wouldn’t want to come in your fukin house anyway !

      • Beaugrand_RTMC

I don’t want your business if you feel the need to carry a gun around. My customers don’t want you in my store with your penis substitutes either.

        • James Chant

Okay… you need to keep your penis fetish to yourself. There may be children reading the board here.

    • Daniel M

Ummm… businesses are places of public accommodation. Your house is not. Please brush up on the law before spewing noise.

      • Beaugrand_RTMC

My house and my business are owned by ME, and I decide who can carry dangerous weapons into MY BUSINESS.
Obviously, you have never owned a business. You’re the one spewing nonsense.

        • James Chant

Hope you have a real good insurance policy, and that you are a LLC. When you infringe upon a person’s right and ability to protect themselves while they are on your property conducting business (which you profit from), you assume responsibility for their safety while they are there. Should something happen to one of your customers that might have been normally armed, you may find yourself making some civil trial attorney very happy.

  • Stan S

The hell with Harbor Freight, there are other like stores that will abide by my 2nd ammendent rights, I cannot understand stores not letting LEGALLY LICENSED CCW owners to carry in their stores====Goes against their own safety, criminals are much more likely to rob a store where they know NO WEAPONS ALLOWED, that way they don’t have to worry about getting shot by a patron ! Sorry Harbor, You just lost my business !

  • Travis Bodo

Every single one of you make me embarrassed to be an American. Take your guns and shove them directly up your asses. And I don’t mean your mouths.

    • James Chant

We are embarrassed that you call yourself an American also, Travis. Now go fuck yourself.

      • M Erlich

Go fuck yourself big man! If someone doesn’t agree with your moronic view of the world you want to talk shit – try talking shit in person without your fucking gun – you can’t because you are a BIG PUSSY!

        • James Chant

I’d have no problem with that. I have over 30-years experience in several martial arts systems. I teach classes in street self-defense, stick, and knife fighting.
I worked for over 20 years in the security and investigative industries, worked VIP Protection details, and as a bouncer in various nightclubs in two different states. I’ve also worked with local reserve police units and have taught classes in Police Baton and Tactical Handcuffing.
I have even been shot in the back while on the job. (BTW, my attacker won the bodybag prize.)

Nope. I have no problem telling someone “fuck you” to their face. And actually, I’m more dangerous with a blade than I am with any of my firearms… which is saying a lot.
So, if you want to test your “Big Pussy” theory, you can meet me anytime at the school I teach at, and go out on the floor with me and try your luck.

Until you do, you should probably shut your dick holster.

    • troll

Ignorant piece of crap ! Next time you need help, don’t call the police, in case you didn’t know, they carry firearms ! You sir are an embarrasment to every intelligent law abiding American!

      • Travis Bodo

You must realize that they were not referring to police when they said people cannot bring guns into their stores. They didn’t mean carry around a gun when they said right to bear arms. They meant that in times of need you can protect yourself. Walking into a harbor freight isn’t that dangerous. And I don’t think your gun would protect you from a welding machine falling off a shelf. I’m gonna go a step further and say you are all embarrassments to Christianity as a whole. The world feels sorry for all of you.

        • RogerB

OH NO…we have a another example of religious bigotry.

        • James Chant

Oh, for the love of God. What exactly do you think the word “bear” means? I’ll save you the trouble of fumbling around trying to come up with something and just give you the first entry for the word “bear” according to Webster’s New Word Dictionary… “bear: To carry.”
Please buy yourself a dictionary before you say anything else dumb.

        • Strawberry Garcia

Why don’t you Google “Harbor freight robbed” and see how many times it happens, how safe do you feel now? but then you always got 911 to mop up the floor.

    • Strawberry Garcia

After they take the second amendment what’s the next one, a$$ hole!

  • JDeeds

    Ok, no more shopping there.

  • bill

I will never step foot into a HF again.

  • Frank

Will they be banning ski masks and gloves as well?

  • shade_tree

I’m sure HFT doesn’t allow employees to be armed and the above happened at 10PM, several hours after the store and any normal customers, CCW or not, would have left the premise.

  • Jimmy Hitchcock

I’ve never had problems carrying in HB in Lawton, Ok.

  • AK Teabilly

Harbor Freight issued this statement fairly recently:

“In light of recent concerns, Harbor Freight Tools would like to clarify its position on ‘open carry’ (openly carrying a firearm in public).

“We understand that there are a wide range of views on ‘open carry’ and other policies concerning firearms. We believe these policies should be addressed by the appropriate government agencies—not by Harbor Freight Tools. As a company, it’s not our policy to take a position on these issues other than to respect federal, state and local laws currently in effect.

“Accordingly, we permit ‘open carry’ for our customers in jurisdictions where allowed, provided the firearms are carried in compliance with all applicable laws. We also ask our customers to be responsible and respectful of each other and our store associates.”

This is what Harbor Freight published today:

In light of recent concerns, Harbor Freight Tools would like to clarify
its position on ‘open carry’ (openly carrying a firearm in public).

We understand that there are a wide range of views on ‘open carry’ and
other policies concerning firearms. We believe these policies should be
addressed by the appropriate government agencies—not by Harbor Freight
Tools. As a company, it’s not our policy to take a position on these
issues other than to respect federal, state and local laws currently in
    effect.

Accordingly, we permit ‘open carry’ for our customers
in jurisdictions where allowed, provided the firearms are carried in
compliance with all applicable laws. We also ask our customers to be
responsible and respectful of each other and our store associates.

    • Guy Phillips

Just remember HF, dead is dead and who is right is a moot point.

  • RogerB

I shop at Harbor, have a CHL in Texas. Unless they put up a proper Texas Regulatory sign, I will continue to conceal carry when I’m there.

  • Mark Malone

Guess I won’t be shopping at HF any more.

  • Billy Harp

    Same here brother!

  • Stan S

Fuk Harbor Freight and any business like it !

  • Brian Madaris

I carry mine in there all the time. no problem. Of course just like everywhere else, I carry concealed so that I am not a target for harrassment or hold up.

  • Michael Dunfee

why haven’t you updated this to state it was one idiot, and not harbor freight? They already stated publicly they support local laws, the same as Starbucks.

  • Guy Phillips

In a situation like that, you need to kill as many as you can to remove the bad one’s from the herd.

  • Paul

    Just lost my business

  • Luke

so the store closes at 9pm latest… so no customers also HF is privately owned, just one guy, the original creators son. so this American dream family business is under fire, pun intended, because he simply doesnt want guns on the private property he owns? Thats ridiculous, im sorry if i dont know you and youre on my property, im the only one with the right to have a weapon, its my property, in hindsight taking out the trash late at night was wrong and the whole thing could have been avoided if he did what the rules say and took trash out during hours of operation, yes i work there, this is a real rule. He messed up plain and simple this has nothing to do with guns, no one was shot they could have used a bat, knife or a pointed bloody stick.Judi

  • Luke

I see posts about suing people as well, yea we dont do that, maybe bother walmart about their unfair hours and pay or starbucks for their red cups now..
