Permit-less Carry: Do You Agree With It? How About Formal Training Being A Requirement?

Running a pro-gun website, it’s tricky for me to sometimes talk about certain topics. People get really worked up about these topics, and I understand why. I do, too. But there’s still a legitimate debate that’s going on that cannot be overlooked, and it’s important to discuss these things.

So here is my question for you all:

When a citizen gets a permit to carry a firearm, they are typically required to go through some sort of training in order to obtain that permit. With permit-less carry, this training could be avoided. Do you think that permit-less carry will be an issue, considering that people –who don’t have any sort of formal training– would be allowed to legally carry?

When responding, take into consideration the five states that currently have permit-less carry: Alaska, Arizona, Vermont, Wyoming, and now Kansas. How often do we hear about citizens who are carrying firearms, injure or kill someone of innocence? We really don’t, and these states haven’t turned into the Wild West.

So I guess the real question is: Should formal training be required, before carrying a firearm? I could throw in a fact about NY right now, but it’d put the whole state under the bus. . .let’s put it this way, it’s a non-issue.

I firmly believe that everyone should have some sort of formal training before carrying a firearm. However, making it a requirement is what gets us into a debate for the ages.

What say you?
