[HOLSTER REVIEW] Alien Gear Cloak Slide OWB Holster

Published
Updated

We reviewed the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 2.0 Holster, which is IWB, but what about their OWB holster?

Another great product from a great company, the Alien Gear Cloak Slide OWB Holster is my go-to for the winter months when I’m wearing a jacket. It’s a little more comfortable for us concealed carriers who like the option to use an OWB holster once in a while.

Design

The kydex/leather combo is a really nice setup, and offers the quality and craftsmanship that I have come to expect from Alien Gear. The beautiful thing about this holster; it’s shells are interchangeable with the IWB holster. Just pop one off and screw it onto another and you’re done. It’s really that simple, and it’s a really fantastic feature. Instead of buying an entirely new holster, all you’ll need is a new shell for a few bucks.

Our “Cloak Slide” Holster is an outside the waistband (OWB) hybrid holster. It’s super comfortable, easy to re-holster, and features a fully swappable plastic shell that is interchangeable for use with the Cloak Tuck IWB Holster. Perfect for open or concealed carry.

Included:
Parts Pack (2 – 1/2″ screws, 4 – 3/8″ screws, 4 – 5/8″ screws, 2 – 1/2″ rubber spacers, 4 – 3/8″ rubber spacers, 4 – 5/8″ rubber spacers, 1 – T Nut, 1 – Finish Washer, 1 – 3/32 Hex Key)

Comfortability

A comfortable holster is a must. If it’s not comfortable, people tend to not carry on a regular basis like they should. After all, you don’t want to be uncomfortable and adjusting your rig all day long. Nobody has time for that.

With AG products, I’ve experienced nothing but comfort. This holster is no exception. While it rides higher than an IWB holster would, you should be able to find the perfect spot for your firearm and your body type. With mine, I tend to wear it around 4-5 o’clock. Whether I’m in the car, sitting in a chair or out and about, you forget it’s even there.

Retention

Just like it’s IWB buddy, the holster comes with a hardware pack which includes some spacers. Any holster that I’ve got from Alien Gear has been perfect as-is for retention. However, the options are there in case you want more or less.

Price

These babies start at $29.88

Yea, that’s right. If you want an even better deal, you can get their combo pack and add another holster to the mix.

And of course, they offer a pretty sweet guarantee, outlined below:
